Flora, Fauna and All of Mankind

The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.

Psalm 89:11

Today we started off bright and early, leaving at 7am and heading to Maesa Elephant Camp. We enjoyed the majesty of these animals and watched how they interacted with their handlers, or "mahouts" as they are called. Mahouts work with the same elephant every single day and get to know it's mannerisms, behaviors, and personalities. They teach the elephant everything it needs to know and also provides the elephant with all it's personal needs including nutrition and activity. Its similar to our relationship with God where He gives us what we need and He teaches us and disciplines us throughout our lives as well.

But the observation of these animals in itself is an incredible adventure. They are beautiful and smart. What a magnificent creation! We had lunch at the Orchid Farm, which displays hundreds of orchids and has a butterfly room. More opportunity to see God's handiwork and appreciate them for the gifts that they are to us.

Tomorrow we head home after spending some more time with the girls. We wish we had more time with them, but we've learned a lot about the culture in which they are growing up. They have a lot going against a Christian upbringing, but they are surrounded by love and know that they are loved by people in America too. We have all already talked about how difficult tomorrow will be.
