After arriving yesterday in Japan on JAL Japan Airlines from Dallas Texas in a little over 13 hours having received great customer service,
today was the first day of painting.
We started out with a breakfast made by Hazel Schaeffer...pancakes, yogurt, blueberries, bananas, granola and sausage were offered to the group.
The first day task was to paint the sanctuary, the kitchen, restrooms- the entire upstairs. It was not far into our day that we discovered that we could not paint the ceiling without the pieces of the stucco ceiling falling back down on us. The task was going to be bigger than initially expected. Thanks to the expertise of Tim Barnes and Russ Czellath we quickly went to Plan B - get a paint sprayer... However, in the huge HomeDepot- like store, no paint sprayer. The men on our team decided it was best to scrap the ceiling and paint. It took much more time than expected but God provided the tools

Russ scrapping using a special technique - paint on the old paint and the old paint scraps off with less dust
