Day 7

Yesterday we resumed VBS at United Alliance church in the Haitian community. The number of kids who came was double the amount that came on Thursday. We played a variety of games appropriate for the different ages (soccer, volleyball, and throwing a beach ball for the little ones). We resumed the story of Joseph from prison to when he revealed himself to his brothers. The kids learned how Joseph, like Jesus, forgave his enemies. The craft team had the kids draw a coat of many colors.

Later that evening, we returned to Calvary Bible Church. Pastor Jordy was invited to speak to the youth group and encouraged them to live life according to God’s will and not their own. Worship was very moving, as everyone was responding to the message in the songs.

Earlier that day, we had the opportunity to go to Ty’s Place. It is a restaurant next to the down’s home we ministered to earlier in the week. It’s named after a boy, Ty, who lost his battle to leukemia. The restaurant is run by those who have Down’s Syndrome at the home; it’s one of the most popular places to eat. We experienced authentic Bahamian food – delicious! It was beautiful.

Today is Saturday. We are currently packing and cleaning up camp before we leave for the airport. It will be a few hours before we do. We know that we will be arriving later this evening at the Cleveland Airport, roughly 10pm. Looking forward to seeing you all again and sharing our experience with you!
