We were planning to attend the New Testament dedication ceremony in Port Moresby. A week earlier, Rob Bradshaw and a few others were going to attend another dedication ceremony in the Doromu-Koki village. Then both dedications seemed as if they wouldn't happen. Yesterday, Sunday, Sept 2, Betsy Bradshaw sent out the following good news:
"We praise God that we heard just yesterday... morning that there will be a New Testament dedication in Port Moresby on September 22nd! Rob will have a meeting there next week to discuss the details and schedule with the Doromu-Koki leaders and BTA (Bible Translation Association of PNG) leaders. The village dedication is still pending, as there have been a number of deaths there recently and we will wait for Rob to meet with a translator who was in the village last week to find out the latest plans. Thank you to those who prayed! God is working and has great plans for the Doromu-Koki people to receive His Word! Please keep praying for these meetings and God’s continued clear direction."
We (Marlin, Flo, Ken and I) appreciate your continued prayers as we tie-up all our loose ends in preparation to leave Sept 15th.
I mentioned in an e-mail earlier, I am so grateful for all the Wycliffe workers, especially Rob and Betsy Bradshaw, who have laid down their lives in PNG for the sake of giving others the Word in their heart languages. May this translation be used to grow the faith of the believers and open the hearts of others. I read an account recently of a local translation worker in Ghana, who said, he understands the Word so much better in his own language, even though he was part of the translation team! The final product in his native language spoke to his heart more! We are honored to be able to a part of this "presence" ministry to share life with them and be used as He leads. Praises * That the Port Moresby dedication ceremony is going to happen after all! * All of our financial support is basically covered * We found out a few members of a Washington church will be joining us there, one is a youth minister, and one a worship minister Prayer Requests * That the Lord move in a great and demonstrative way to bless and strengthen the believers there * That the Word in the Domoru-Koki language will speak to their hearts for salvation of the lost and for spiritual growth of the believers * For team unity for us and the with the small team from Washington * For eyes to see and ears to hear, to make the most of every opportunity He provides To Him who is able to more than we can think or imagine!
